Do the people that make Bazooka Joe comics care about anything?

That kid with the weird turtleneck is in front of the lady with the hat.

Maybe the kid is facing the wrong way to begin with and the lady with the hat is anticipating a problem when everyone is facing the proper direction.

Note how the background changes color in all three panels. Maybe there is no real space where these two troubled individuals actually exist and her hat is in the way because in this 2-dimensional world, her hat is, in fact, everywhere.

Maybe you and Casimir should get lives.

Another thing ... it's not 1914 anymore ...

Actually, that comic is reproduced (and poorly cropped) from an earlier Bazooka Joe comic. In the original, Mort is indeed sitting behind the lady.
